On the first day of the release of Blood Sisters, Twitter was rife with comments about the series leading to its popularity. Mo Abudu, arguably the most prominent filmmaker in the Nigerian industry, has made a couple of good high-budget movies. With the assistance of some of the best filmmakers in West Africa, Abudu created a series that had people talking for days. That’s huge, considering the fickleness of conversations on Twitter.
Starring established veterans like Kate Henshaw, Ramsey Nouah, and Uche Jombo and further establishing the acting prowess of budding stars like Nancy Isime and Ini Dinma-Okojie – Blood Sisters was that series.
We collected public data from social media platforms and aggregation services to extract useful insights about the Series. The data collected sought to explore the buzz around the series: Who was the most popular character? Which days had the most engagements? Which countries aside from Nigeria had Blood Sisters in their timeline? Who were the biggest promoters of the series, and much more?

Volume
Conversations for the first 5 days averaged 5,000+ original tweets. This is considered impressive, and if we delve into the data further, we can see the intentional efforts of the film characters to drive conversations on Twitter. For example, the cast kept on tweeting and promoting the series on their timeline while also sharing BTS pictures.
Hashtag
Users made great use of the hashtag #BloodSisters #BloodSistersNetflix as evident in the number of original tweets gathered. The use of Hashtags makes it easy to track conversations across social media
Character Mentions and Review
Users speaking regarding a character also mention the actors using their social media handles.
For example, no one ever looked dapper even while mourning. You killed this @HenshawKate #BloodSisters
This also can be exploited as some of the actors don’t have a Twitter presence leaving room for impersonators to thrive.
Countries Adopting Nigerian Movies
The series ranked highly in Kenya and Jamaica, aside from Nigeria. We also have the contributions and reviews of diasporans who are equally invested in supporting Nollywood
